New Moon in Scorpio
NEw moon | Scorpio | Nov 1, 2024
This new moon comes in on the eve of Samhain, early in the morning of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Scorpio season in general, and this particular time of year especially, are times to honour the deaths that create space for rebirths. As the leaves burst into flames before falling from the trees, we are reminding of the stunning beauty of letting things die with grace.
The archetype of Scorpio is all about facing the shadow. This new moon is a reminder that our darkest corners are the keys to our greatest power. That truth is the cornerstone of deep intimacy. That in the revealing of our darkness, we allow another to truly know and witness us.
New moons always represent a new beginning, but this new moon in particular is inviting us into a major transformation, if we are ready and willing. A beautiful way to honour and work with this new moon is by letting go of anything that does not align with what you are ready to create in this next chapter of your life.
Letting go of the old is often a beautiful offering to call in our new desires.
We are approaching two major retrogrades for the final two months of the year. Mercury retrograde begins in late November and Mars will station retrograde shortly after in early December. Retrogrades, especially with Mars, are invitations to reassess and align, allowing things to slow down and gain clarity before surging forward with greater momentum.
The end of this year feels like a time to slow down the pace, reevaluate our direction, and align with the highest vision for what is coming next.
Often that process requires surrender, as our minds frantically search for more data and information, trying to fill in the gaps of the unknown, we can become forceful and aggressive in trying to MAKE something happen (shadow of Mars). However, over the next few months it may be helpful to surrender our personal will and trust the unfolding, remembering that everything is always working out for us even when we can’t see it.
Scorpio releases what can’t come with us to where we’re going next, and reminds us of the beauty of that process.
Death of the old self is nothing to be afraid of. Throw a party for your shadow. Dress up as your darkest self. Remember that you can’t take any of it with you when you go.
Co-rulers of this new moon, Mars and Pluto, are in exact opposition as this moon comes in. There’s a certain emotional intensity that this transit can bring (especially with Mars being in Cancer). It also highlights and illuminates our struggles with power, force, and control.
Mars represents our will, whereas Pluto represents larger karmic cycles. With these two at war, we may be feeling extra fiesty, and deeper conflicts within the psyche can surface to be purged and released.
Pluto and Mars both help us understand power: where we give it away, where we force it, where we feel out of control, where we relinquish control to something higher. Lessons you’ve been integrating around these topics may come to greater insight and clarity under this new moon.
This time of year, the veil is thin, and the intentions we set can be very powerful. Be mindful of the power of creation your words and thoughts hold. You are the magician. Wield your power with integrity, wisdom, and intention.
New moon blessings,
Hannah
