Full Moon in Aquarius
Full Moon | Aquarius | August 19, 2024
The full moon is always a release point. The turning point in the cycle, from waxing to waning. Energy reaches a peak, and then begins to slowly dissolve and resolve inward, until we begin again with the next new moon.
This particular full moon in Aquarius comes as a cathartic release of the tense energies building over the last week, and my what a week it’s been.
The week leading up to the full moon was one of the more chaotic and challenging weeks of the year, but it’s also been significantly important, and ultimately beneficial.
Essentially the energy has felt like a stripping away of everything that’s not meant to come to the next chapter with us. Karmic loops closing. Unexpected turn of events. Things that seemed to be going one way, all of a sudden changing direction.
Our full moon in Aquarius came in to sweep away the clutter, and usher in the new, on no uncertain terms.
Right before the breakthrough, we often experience the most density of stress. All of the stress aspects in the chart leading up to the full moon forcefully pushed our unresolved fears and limitations to the surface, showing us exactly what we need to overcome in order to move forward with our big dreams.
The full moon made an exact square to Uranus, the ruler of the chart. Uranus is the planet of breakthroughs, radical change, and sudden shifts. This full moon is a paradigm shift. Drastic and radical up-levels are available, but only if we are willing to face the fear, and move forward anyway.
Mars and Jupiter, still in close conjunction in the chart, made square to Saturn during the full moon. The shadow of this aspect would be chaos and confusion. Full speed ahead, but scattered and with not enough clarity, and being stopped in your tracks by lord Saturn.
However, the highest expression of this transit is momentum, decisive and expansive action towards your dreams, with enough forethought and long term vision to put Saturn at ease. Chase your dreams, and also make sure whatever you’re working towards, you can see it through the long haul.
The full moon is also in almost exact opposition to Mercury, still retrograde, and just past his cazimi moment with the sun. The full moon may have illuminated more information, or a new perspective on something important to take into consideration. Consider it a lightbulb moment, an aha, a flash of clarity.
As I write this, the sun has officially moved into Virgo. With our Virgo ruler, Mercury, moving through his final moments of retrograde (and set to station direct August 28th), we are in a moment of refining.
Ideally by now you know what Mercury has set out to teach you this cycle. There is some area of your life you’ve been revising and re-envisioning under this retrograde. Whatever it is for you, this week is the moment to cross your t’s and dot your i’s in that process. We are not out of the woods yet, but whatever actions you know you need to take moving forward, get your ducks in a row to set it in motion starting mid next week.
Mercury is currently sextile Mars, so you may be feeling the impulse and momentum, but just remember, there may be a few plot twists up the trickster’s sleeve yet.
It’s rare that I see a chart so ripe with opportunity for transformation. This week, I encourage you to use Mercury’s remaining backwards glance to take inventory of all the ways you’ve held yourself back, all of your upper limits, all of your deepest fears. As we purge, clear, and make space within by acknowledging these parts, we are preparing for the leap that is available to all of us under these skies.
The ultimate guidance here is to trust the whispers of the heart, quiet the voices of the mind, and summon pure devotion to the path you are being guided to take.
Feel the fear, trust the heart, and proceed.
